Gallatin River Communications was an ILEC primarily offering voice and data services in 22 exchanges in Illinois. The company's markets were primarily in rural and suburban areas. Gallatin River was acquired by Madison River Capital, LLC, the holding company of Madison River Telephone Company, LLC, in November 1998. Madison River was subsequently acquired by CenturyTel, Inc. in April 2007. As part of the acquisition, Gallatin became a wholly owned subsidiary of CenturyTel in March 2007. Gallatin River maintained its brand identity until June 1, 2008, when it assumed the CenturyTel brand name. The Gallatin River legal name is still used for FCC filing purposes, however the company has been completely integrated into CenturyTel.
