Yates City Telephone Company

Yates City Telephone Company was a single-exchange rural incumbent carrier. The company served  approximately 470 access lines in Yates City and environs in downstate Knox County, Illionois, about 30 miles west of Peoria.

The company was acquired by Mid Century Telephone Cooperative, Inc. (MCTC), in April 2007. MCTC subsequently announced plans to roll out new services to the Yates City exchange, including voicemail and 100% broadband coverage, by interconnecting the area to one of its existing switches.
